Global Home (GH4IP) in 21st Session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII21)
Co-founder Secretary Anil Chaudhary represented Global Home for Indigenous Peoples in the 21st Session of UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York. The event took place from 25 April to 6 May 2022 at UN building, NY. On behalf of GH4IP, Anil intervened during the opening ceremony of the session with remarks which can be viewed here.
Anil emphasized on the urgent call and need for Indigenous language integration in the curriculum in the schools because of which Indigenous Peoples children are forced and imposed to read and study in the language which is not their native or mother tongue. This consequently has longer negative impact on their IQ and cognitive level.
Regional Consultation – IFAD Policy on Engagement with Indigenous Peoples (Asia)
Co-founder President Brijlal Chaudhari presented critical remarks and review on the updated Policy on Engagement with Indigenous Peoples in Asia region during regional consultation meeting held virtually on June 13, 2022. l ecosystem.
Brij emphasized on engagement of Indigenous Peoples at different level including at senior management and policy level, provision of opportunities for young Indigenous Peoples in different forums of IFAD, involvement of independent Indigenous Peoples evaluators to bring Indigenous Peoples perspective during evaluation of programs and also, allocating resources to further improve well-being of Indigenous Peoples without harming nature and ecosystem as IPs highly depend on natura
